7th June 2007, 06:16 PM
You mean Oxegen?
Not worth the money to see 3 bands and one DJ I like.
colly
7th June 2007, 06:17 PM
no i mean the who. marley park. biffy got the support slot.
www.biffyclyro.com
Sean-Lugsy
7th June 2007, 06:21 PM
Bent. What a ridiculous support slot. Like whoever's supporting Pink. It's either Blizzards, Director or Delorentos. I like 2 of those bands, but why they were given the support is mind blowing.
colly
7th June 2007, 06:24 PM
ya direcctor supporting pink. thats bollix but biffy with the who. thats deadly. great gig for them i think. the who are(were) great too
Sean-Lugsy
7th June 2007, 06:31 PM
I still wouldn't pay that much (69.50) to see Biffy Clyro unless it was a headline show.
colly
7th June 2007, 07:01 PM
ya i suppose. i like the who though too and i havent seen bif yet but im mad too so id said id check it out
Robbie Control
7th June 2007, 07:04 PM
The only way I'd pay 70 euro to see Biffy now would be if they played in my bedroom and I picked the setlist. Fuck The Who and fuck Marley Park.
Smithners
7th June 2007, 07:10 PM
That's a ridiculous price and a ridiculous line-up!
The Who should have given up years ago
colly
7th June 2007, 07:14 PM
I picked the setlist.
what would it be?
Robbie Control
7th June 2007, 09:15 PM
I can't be arsed writing it out. It's just I've seen them like a million times and Marley Park is the worst place ever, its 70 euro and they're the support. Load of tits.
Sean-Lugsy
8th June 2007, 12:22 AM
I'd just get them to play that Buddy Holly cover a few times.
downtown hash brown
8th June 2007, 12:23 AM

8th June 2007, 12:27 AM

Sean-Lugsy
8th June 2007, 12:29 AM
I have the DVD all week and still haven't watched it. Might tonight. Might inspire me to come up with a good excuse for ringing in sick. Saying I've a tummy bug sounds fuckin' lame to say.
Robbie Control
8th June 2007, 12:12 PM
I'd just get them to play that Buddy Holly cover a few times.
You know that was called 9/15ths The Ghost Of Bybombider(or something). I saw them play it in Galway. They stupidly scrapped the whole song and turned it into a Weezer cover.

They are playing Dublin. Supporting Bloc Party obviously counts as a date. They'd hardly play a support show for a band way bigger than them to a massive crowd, then go play a smaller venue in the same city a day later.

I could probably list off about 25 of what's in the charts, not in order. I'll give it a go.
Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
Coldplay - Viva La Vida
Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad
Damien Dempsey
Leonard Cohen - Either the collection or Essential
U2 (x3) - War, Boy and something else
Radiohead - Rainbows
Abba - Gold (though that mightn't count)
Mamma Mia soundtrack
Hold Steady - Stay Positive
MGMT - Can't remember the name. Something shit.
Jonas Brothers - We Are Gayers
Timbaland is probably still there
Ne-Yo
Chris Brown
The Script will be in the Top 10 this week once it comes out
Kid Rock
Foals
Sigur Ros
Now 70 would be top of the Comps chart
Fleet Foxes
Paul Weller but I don't think it's his new album that's there
Struggling...
Vampire Weekend
Last Of The Shadow Puppets should still be there
Kate Nash is probably gone
People are suddenly on a John Mayer buzz so his DVD or Room For Squares might have charted
Basshunter
Roisin Murphy should be there or thereabouts
Tom Waits WOULD be there if his CDs weren't on sale. We definitely sold more Tom Waits overall than anyone else except maybe Coldplay in the last week.
Everytime I play that Mayday Parade CD, somebody asks about it. No matter what. Every single time. Old dudes and all, like.

I was just thinking maybe it's the Westlife-esque key change they were into. The English security guard we have was asking was the rest of the album like that song. I said yeah. It's not really. But what does she know. Best album

That Jersey song is pretty good but the key change just sounds wrong. It doesn't even sound like Westlife because I'm sure whoever writes their songs knows when to put in a key change and when not to.

The Kerrang tour show this january was the worst shit ever. Circa started about 10 mins early, I couldn't even get into the place in time. Little fucking pussies spent the remainder of their set shouting clever insults about someone's Ma at the band. Circa were actually class though, just so hard to enjoy it with the dopes around. Fightstar are a crap band, Madina Lake I think were the other band, even worse.
I didn't stay for Coheed, who may have been okay, depending on how much old stuff they played.

Defo prefer it to Puzzle... Nothing amazing but some good tunes. There's something so deliberate about it though, like they wrote it with the aim of trying to become as big as possible. Even the heavier, weirder songs feel really contrived or something. Like the shouts on That Golden Rule... It's like they want to make them aggressive, but not so aggressive that it won't get played on radio. This album defo closes the door on Biffy ever being the amazing band they once were, which is pretty sad. But saying that the melodies are great and it'll be a fun listen for a while.
