Shit security, agreed. But the problem is most of the bands coming over bring engineers with them and they can't get the sound quite right coz of the weird acoustics in there. On the right night, the ambassador is the best sounding venue in dublin, hands down.
This gig is gonna own, Circa Survive are really good, Coheed are fantastic but not the most entertaining band live and Thrice are still one of my favourites. Anyone know for sure when the tix are on sale?

Id be fairly amazed if Thrice cancelled the show here only to come back 3 months later after starting a tour in the States already. even if time and dates permitted,the cost involved in getting a show here is collosal and would only be justified if it had already been banked by a run of well attended shows previous. which is why Ireland tends to be a late addition to tours.its viable,but not always plausalbe in terms of finances.

With that i'd say it'll be feb or no gig.

I'd call it growing. The new album's probably gonna be orientated towards that kinda stuff, Vheissu was a huge step in that direction and I think for the better. They've already proved they can write great metal/Post hardcore songs and are brilliant at doing this kinda stuff too. I would love to hear another paper tigers or To awake and avenge the dead on this album but i reckon it'll be amazing with or without.

Just gave the album a full listen.
The first 2 fire songs are the best but I expected it to be fulla phat riffs and breakdowns. Its just big and loud and heavy. I enjoyed it immensely though.
The water songs are exactly what I expected them to sound like. Digital drums and samples with some ambient vocals and you barely notice the instruments playing under them. There is a really good instrumental track on there aswell.
Ill still need to give it a good few more listens much like Vheissu.

You probably won't like them, Foxy. Well you might actually like the Alchemy Index. I'll give it to you. Maybe Vheissu. They're more ambient and alternative with a lot of synth orchestrated stuff, whereas The Artist In The Ambulance is very much more mainstream screamo/post-hardcore/emo stuff. But still a quality album to check out if you're even slightly into that kind of stuff. I wouldn't check out anything before that if you're not into that kind of genre, because their whole career seems like a constant growth from heavy generic chugg type screamo stuff on Identity Crisis to the really ambient moody electric stuff on the Alchemy Index.

Listen to Vheissu. Seriously. Then The Artist in the Ambulance. Then some Illusion of Safety. You have to listen to these albums. Every single track on each is fucking quality. Can't believe you don't already know Thrice!

Oh, yeah, I mean, like Sean said, you probably won't like anything older than Vheissu ('cept maybe TAITA's poppier moments), but it's all amazing shit nonetheless. Quality time sig bits and shit from IOS through Vheissu. Not so much with Alchemy Index.

This new stuff is the best thing ever. I thought I was gonna fucking hate Dustin Kenshrew's voice because it's so grainy and tends to get monotonous but the vocals are probably the best thing on it. AIR is such a good CD and I've only listened to it this morning on the way to college. I like EARTH as well for its eclectic take on folk/country stuff. I wouldn't even call it that. It's pretty much Vheissu done with acoustic instruments and AMAZING production.

Dunno why I didn't get into WATER or FIRE as much. I'll give them another listen later, but this new stuff is so good.

Yeah just listen to TAITA, Foxy. It's probably the best album ever.

love all 4 parts of the alchemy index, think its the best stuff they've done but i'm a big fan of Vheissu and to a lesser extent TAITA as well.

As the Crow flies on Air is a lovely tune.

Ah that sucks man, the underworld is a really cool venue too. Considering they're gonna be playing a lot of the new material it'd work better there than in some massive kip / at a festival.

One of the best gigs I've ever seen. The trigger on the bass drum went after the second song (the first 2 being All That's Left and Silhouette:yes:) so Dustin played an acoustic version of Stare At The Sun while they fixed it, absolutely amazing. They played a perfect setlist in my opinion. Plenty of TIATA material, a good bit from Vheissu, even two from The Illision Of Safety but what blew me away is how good their new material sounds. The live tunings must have been slightly lower because the songs seemed so much heavier. Their harmonies and vocals in general, especially for the Whaler were so so tight and overall they sounded better than I've ever heard them before. Finishing with Deadbolt was epic.

Sounds pretty much like the set they played at bamboozle. Although I think that set was kind of lacking in Vheissu tracks. They did finish with the Earth Will Shake, though, I think.

The DVD is really really really good. They done a really good mix of all the albums and the new stuff sounds unreal live. I was hoping to hear maybe Paper Tigers or To Awake and Avenge the Dead on it.
Digital Sea sounds really weird played with the drums live and The Artist In The Ambulance doesn't fit in the set really. I never really liked the song in the first place.

Yeah I wasn't expecting to hear paper Tigers, or TAAATD on it because it was the same tour as when I saw them a few months back. Still though, that clip sounds class and I'm dying to see if Of Dust and Nations is as epic as it was in London.
