I dunno, if it was quiet, like background music or something then it probably wouldn't annoy me, but it gets played loud and you're having to speak even louder to talk to people/get a drink or whatever.

I know what you are talking about alright. In between bands its nice to have a chat and loud music hampers that. In this case it was alright since me and Ciarán had a bit of a singalong. Good times.

You should have seen Kickback in Germany so. Full on booting a girl off stage.
People getting up on stage and not getting off is ass. At a Clobberin Time show the brother of one of the guitarists was up on stage 'being awesome' for two whole songs. Drunk dudes, eh? Go team.

Good ould wikipedia
Origin of name
Due to discrepency of the pronunciation of the band name, Anthony Green gave an explanation and meaning behind the name, Saosin.
"It’s pronounced SAY-OCEAN. And it’s a Chinese proverb from the 15th and 16th centuries. It means 'small heart'. Fathers used to marry off their youngest sons for money and used to tell them that they weren’t marrying for love, that their wife doesn’t matter. She could die at anytime so don’t get attached. They had to love with caution and raise their sons to be cold and unfeeling as well. I found it in the 8th grade and loved it, I used to name all my old bands that and write songs about it."
Although it is properly pronounced this way, the actual members of the group today call it SAY-OH-SIN. Therefore it is generally accepted and pronounced this way

Started listening to these again lately, Can't stop. Such a good album. Such a good band.

(x + y)/z = Saosin

19th December 2008, 09:19 PM
x = z(Saosin) - y

Saosin = zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
eeeeehhhhhh

I like Saosin way more than Circa Survive. I dunno what's wrong with me.

Once you recognise something is wrong with that, there's hope.

20th December 2008, 01:52 AM
Oh dear. Sort yourself out.
xGavx
20th December 2008, 01:53 AM
Saosin are better.
xCiaránx
20th December 2008, 01:55 AM
You need to sort yourself out too.

IF YOU KEEP ASKING ME I'LL MELT AWAY IN THE SUMMER AAAAAAAAIR.
I stand by my decision.

20th December 2008, 01:59 AM
Jesus, you pick one of the only Saosin songs that doesn't have awesome drums on it and all.
eeeeehhhhhh
20th December 2008, 02:02 AM
Yeah, I love Saosin for the deadly drumming...
xGavx
20th December 2008, 02:06 AM
That's such a good song.
eeeeehhhhhh
20th December 2008, 02:08 AM
Gav gets it. The rest of you are silly.
xCiaránx
20th December 2008, 02:23 AM
That song has a good chorus. Many Saosin songs are good. Circa Survive are still way better.

I don't think there's anything wrong with you for liking Saosin more though.
Ronan
20th December 2008, 03:03 AM
Yeah, I love Saosin for the deadly drumming...
I... really, really hope that you do. Without it loads of their music would be the most boring thing ever.
I Can Tell is still great though, yeah. The best bit's definitely the sort of key change in the last few bars.
Based on the newer Saosin stuff I've heard there's clearly no competition now, people saying otherwise are just trying to hate on CS (or are just idiots), because the new Saosin is definitely terrible.

20th December 2008, 03:14 AM
Saosin have a shitload of class songs and Circa Survive have like two.
ianthefox
20th December 2008, 03:17 AM
Ah Circa have a shitload of class tunes too.
I'm going to spend the next week listening to these two bands a shitload, and make my decision.
Ronan

Haha, I know you'll do the right thing, Foxy ;) Either way you can't lose

The hi hat sound on the album makes me hard. So crisp.

Music is entirely subjective. You're being ridiculous by saying one band is better than the other based on x y and z. The technicalities of the music have no bearing on how much you enjoy it. And I haven't heard the new Saosin stuff. I'm definitely being an idiot though. Obv. Stop being a music fascist.
Wez-o!

x, y and z refers to Saosins music being formulaic and predictable.
CS are way better.

I Can Tell is the best Saosin song. CS are better overall, I reckon.

I'm definitely not the one being ridiculous here. I like both bands. I have good reasons to. We have a different level of appreciation of the bands, though. Everyone thinks their own style/level of appreciation of music (or probably anything) is the best one, I'm sure. I'm no exception, evidently neither are you.
Taste in music is pretty much subjective, yeah.
The only "technicality" I mentioned was how good (and therefore vital in determining how enjoyable or "good" their music is to me) I thought the drumming is. You responded with some remark about not caring about Saosin's drumming. Good for you for not appreciating a huge aspect of the music, I guess...?
Doesn't make me a music fascist just because I can/do say why I even like a band's music.
I could just as easily call you a subjectivity fascist for trying to dictate to others what is/is not subjective. That'd just be stupid though.
Also, I don't see why you'd have take what I said about idiots so personally, because if you haven't heard Saosin's new stuff then it couldn't possibly apply to you. Obv.
My first comment about "there is something wrong with that" wasn't totally serious, like. After that the only real point I care to make is that liking/hating an aspect of a band's music (i.e. drumming) > failing to feel any way or form any opinion on that aspect.

Both shit bands.

I'm deadly serious. Circa Survive are way better than Saosin and that's just how it is.

Yeah. I'd probably agree that they make more interesting music. I do listen to them both in equal amount, though. And the drumming argument is moot, seeing that the drumming in CS definitely is one of the most interesting aspects.

I loved that video where the guitarist was pimping some online music college type affair, insinuating that it was assisting his musical development and fresh ideas and technique. The clip finishes with a new Saosin track that sounds exactly the same as the stuff he's been writing for years.

Haha, yeah. The musical palette has truly been broadened.

Sean-Lugsy

Every single one of them.
You should hate them at first. For a very long time. Then suddenly have an epiphany that they are the best.

2nd July 2009, 12:37 AM
Act Appalled is probably the most accessible song they have, IMO.
xCiaránx

That was the tune that started it all for me. I knew instantly that they were the real deal.

Yeah, people should be having their epiphany on first listen.
