One of the most important bands to me. I always remember hating Crimson, but every time I listen to it, I really like most of the songs. Good Mourning is great, no doubt about that. I was never as into From Here to Infirmary, but i still think its fantastic. Everything before that is some of the best music ever. Some songs I don't like, like Cop. I don't like that song. I like the siren in it though. I'm on a big Alk3 buzz at the moment. And Private Eye was the song Sally, Cruise and myself picked as the first song we'd play when we started the band that became Nine Lives, which I got the name from an Alkaline Trio song.

I think the self-titled, Goddamnit! and Maybe I'll Catch Fire are miles better than the rest, From Here to Infirmary is great too, everything after that is between decent and mediocre, in my opinion. The music is usually still great, but the lyrics went way downhill.

James

Some of the lyrics on Crimson are just embarrassing, especially on Burn.

i wouldn't get to excited, they were the worst things ever in belgium last weekend

i've seen them live twice before and usually they're really tight, but they were actually terrible. i didn't realise they were playing some of my favourite songs till they were half through them cause they were so all over the place

cr00cial n00dz

Non festival sets > Festival sets though

Darragh

in terms of what songs they play maybe not in terms of how tight they are

cr00cial n00dz
14th May 2008, 12:25 PM
You think? I tend to think that some bands just plain don't give a fuck about festivals and put no effort in at all.
For example, last year at GIAN Alexisonfire played a god awful set, in songs and tightness, then saw them in TBMC two days later and they were fucking amazing.
Hopefully Alkaline Trio will be class anyway, last time in Ambassador was real good and TBMC the time before was deadly.

So tonight Matt's voice was fucked from food poisoning and he sang about 3 songs. Dan sang everything else with help from the crowd. The venue held 800 people and it was jam packed, it was like a cross between The Hub and Whelans. No barrier in place and security had to break apart a fight in the middle of Private Eye. They didn't play the current single Help Me, or We've Had Enough or Sadie.
Only 2 songs off Crimson were played, as From Here To Infirmary.

I think I'm gonna head to Outbreak instead of this. I love Alkaline Trio, but I'd rather not destroy my memory of them by seeing them live since every video I've seen lately of them has shown how poor they've become live. That, and I'm dying to see Crowd Control and Exploding Birds again.

Seriously, anyone that goes to Alkaline Trio instead of Outbreak is being a dick. With Mac and the lads bringing bands over a lot more, the group of show going people is growing, but if there is no commitment to the scene, then it may as well not happen. It's unfortunate that Alkaline Trio are on at the same time, as I would also like to see them, but your friends need your help in breaking even, so they can continue to bring bands over as regularly as they do.

I don't know why you insist on trying to talk to and about me to other people, so I guess we can just put both down to life's great mysteries. I've seen them live before, and the videos prove that they haven't improved live, plus I'd rather see the other bands playing that night. Don't question my motives. I don't question you for being such a goon.

I dunno - but your mates at Blast decide to set up a gig (on purpose) to clash with Demented Fest, so that kids would not go to Demented Fest - that seems like a pricky thing to do. Just in case kids go to a Demented show and enjoy it. Whatever you wanna say, you know that show was set up to compete with Demented Fest which was arranged for months in advance.

As for Comeback Kid, Gav - that is one of the very limited number of gigs I haven't gone to in the last 2 years, so get fucked. I didn't go to another show that night, I went home after working all day. I also seem to remember hearing that the show was a success - something which Outbreak doesn't seem to look likely doing.
